Good Reading

I recently re-read the biography of Marie Curie, the woman who invented radium. It is a fascinating book and tells of a woman who was ahead of her time. "Hers is a story of a simple, intense and deeply humble woman to whom science brought a rich life and a happy marriage. And who gave in return the brilliance and devotion which won her the gratitude of mankind. " The book is titled, Madame Curie by her daughter Eve Curie. It is an old book, probably out of print, but I have a copy I would be happy to lend. My mother always refered to this as her favorite book! I enjoyed it the 2nd time around!

  1. I have often thought that I should read more biographies. They can be more real and rewarding that some of the other things I read. I particularly like autobiographies.

Two of my favorite biographies are "Queen Victoria" by Elizabeth Longford and "A Woman of Egypt" by Jehan Sedat. I also really enjoyed a biography of Golda Meir. I can't remember the title or if it was an autobiography.

As I read about the lives of great women I often feel that they are responding to the direction of the Lord and living their lives according to his will.

I look forward to reading the biography of Madame Curie. There is one copy in the county library system and there were no holds on it -- except for mine now.
