I Love the Fall!
I LOVE this time of year! I love when it gets just cool enough that you need a sweater to go outside. I love that the leaves start changing. I love that because it's cold outside, I feel okay to just cuddle up with Henry in a blanket and watch Special Agent Oso and Thomas Train. I love having to bring hot chocolate to watch Katie and Charlie's soccer games. I love that it is football season! (Go Utes!!) I love that I actually enjoy baking now (because it feels nice to have the oven on, finally). :0) Fall is definitely my favorite time of year! As my wise mother-in-law says, "The only bad thing about Fall is that it brings Winter."

This makes me feel warm and happy just reading it. You know, I don't even like hot chocolate, EXCEPT for at football and soccer games, because it keeps my hands warm. And I love hot cider, it does just as well. I love fall because I get to pull out sweaters and boots. Happy. Yay. Happy fall everyone.
ReplyDeleteI agree Loralee! Fall is my favorite season. After work yesterday I baked bread...a first ever in my life! It just seemed like a "Fall" thing to do. When I was growing up, Autumn meant harveting potatoes. Our family had one of the largest potato farms in Teton Valley. School was dismissed for around 2 weeks so the students could work in the harvest. It was always a race against the weather...cold temperatures, snow and rain could prevent us from getting all the spuds "in". I spent 10 - 12 hours a day (depending on the temperature) on the sorter picking out dirt clods, rocks and any waterrot potatoes. It was hard work, and being the boss's daughter meant NO SLACKING at all! Weird how when you are young you don't appreciate the experience, but now I'm grown I miss it!
ReplyDeleteBishop Hansen just emailed me to ask if I forgot "Go Cougs"...just for the record, I did not forget, but I am glad that we can all find joy in the football season...regardless of where your loyalties lie. :0)
ReplyDeleteNice work on the bread, Tonya! It IS a Fall thing to do!
Tonya, we planted potatoes for the first time ever this year. You would have been laughing at me because I had no idea how to harvest them, or when. The first time, I was out there with a small kitchen spoon digging around the roots looking for a potato. That didn't really work. Then a month or two went by and I went out there with a shovel digging several feet around a plant looking for potatoes. I had no idea that they grow directly beneath the plant along the roots. (Which, as I type it, it makes complete sense.) Anyhow, I dug huge holes to no avail. But I did finally find some potatoes and we made some homemade french fries for FHE. I was so delighted to have successfully grown my own potatoes! Maybe next year it'll go even better.
ReplyDeleteGood for you Stephanie! French Fries are so yum with fresh spuds!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to appreciate the colder weather and look on the colorful side of fall with more gratitude.
