First, every year my family gets together with one of my girlfriends and her family. What makes her so special is she is my closest friend - who I have been fortunate to have since 7th grade (that was quite a while ago). Besides Tyler and my sister, she knows me better than anyone. Holidays for me are about spending time with those you love the most. I treasure my friendship with her. Our kids love each other - each year we visit a live nativity - you can see the awe in their faces as they are looking in on baby Jesus. They were so reverent.
Second, Tyler's family is German. Each year we make gingerbread boy cookies, to honor and keep a very old family tradition alive. We love the smells, the history, the family tradition, and enjoy eating this family tradition. I love that I can tell my children about their ancestors and let them know this is part of who they are. Tyler came from amazing, hard working, inspiring grand parents. I am so proud they are my children's heritage and love that I can share their traditions with them. They are good examples and what is better to share with my children at Christmas?
Wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Hope you are all enjoying your own traditions and time with your families.

We love gingerbread men too! I grew up making them at Christmas time and now my mom makes them with the kids. --elizabeth
