April 25, 1929 ~ July 16, 2012I was going to be an author, until I read a picture is worth a thousand words so I became an artist instead. If you knew me you would know that I would write my own obit. I've not room to tell it all, so the worst things I'll omit.
My parents had eight children; I was the youngest of them all. My father was James Walter Ackroyd, my mother Sina Christina Olsen. My siblings now deceased are: Marie, Walter, Max, Edith, Grant, and Ammon. My dear sister Clara is still alive.
I am survived by my husband Dumayne "Gil" Gilson. We were married in the Salt Lake Temple almost 62 years ago, on November 7, 1950. It has been a special union. I taught him to play tennis, golf, and cards, and he quickly learned to beat me at my own games. We have five children: Terry Lynne Decker (Tom), Renee Gilson, Leslie Peterson (Randy), James D. Gilson (Pat), and Darin Dumayne Gilson (Susie). 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
I was a gourmet cook, and we had family dinners every Sunday. We ate well, played games, and laughed a lot. We boated on Lake Powell the week it started to fill up. We spent most of our vacations there, and made great family memories.
I have many very special friends. I've been a lifetime faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I've had a wonderful life, but my work here is done; I look forward to sweet reunions with those on the other side. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.

Faye Hunter Johnson Loving Mother & Grandmother Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Claire Faye Hunter Johnson, passed away peacefully at her home April 9, 2011. She lived a joyful 86 years.Faye was born in Castle Dale, Utah, September 10, 1924 to Lorin T. and Claire Goaslind Hunter. She grew up in a loving home and attended school in Castle Dale and Orangeville, Utah where she made many lifetime friends. She graduated from Brigham Young University, serving as student body secretary, and participating in many speech and drama events. She also affiliated with Nautilus Social Sorority and Tau Kappa Alpha, a national theatrical fraternity. Faye married S. Chris Johnson, September 7, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. They loved each other immensely and united their efforts to create a solid foundation for their family. She was a steady support to her husband throughout his professional career. She was a wonderful mother who was always there for their four daughters. She dedicated her time and energy to where her heart was. She had a deep and abiding love for her family and gave unselfishly to serve and bless the lives of others. She gave tirelessly in serving her community on the board of directors of the Museum of Natural History, and as President and National Convention Chair person of Assistance League. She helped establish the Assistance League Thrift Shop which blesses the lives of many people today. She was also President of the BYU Women's National Advisory Board of the School of Business. Her greatest service was to her family. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was devoted to gospel principles. Her leadership skills and love for the primary children blessed so many throughout her years of service. She especially loved her association with the widows in her ward, hosting them for regular Home Evenings. Her most memorable calling was with her husband, Chris, serving together as missionaries in the Central City Mission in Liberty Stake where they taught, nurtured and loved so many. They served honorably and loved the opportunity. Faye touched and influenced the lives of many, including her own family. It was most often through the strength of her example. She was kind, generous and loving. Her life will forever inspire and encourage us. Faye is survived by her three daughters and their husbands: Jan (Craig) Zwick, Peggy (Kip) Wade, Barbara (Scott) Smith; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren who will miss her kindness and happy spirit. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, S. Chris Johnson, and her daughter, Carolyn. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 14, at noon in the Grandview First Ward Chapel, 2930 South 2000 East in Salt Lake City. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South and Thursday 10:30 -11:30 a.m. at the chapel. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Laura Sacramoni and Larissa Menezes for their devoted and tender care. We also thank CNS Hospice for their kind, respectful and professional service.
