Lois Lott

1923 ~ 2013
Lois G. Lott of Salt Lake City passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2013. She was 90 years of age. 
Lois was born June 18, 1923 in Lehi, Utah to Israel L. and Emma Brown Lott. Graduated from Lehi High School and attended the L.D.S. Business College. During World War II she worked at the Geneva Steel Plant in Provo, Utah. Later, was employed as a secretary at Salt Lake City Federal Reserve Bank, Traffic Manager at KLAS Radio in Las Vegas, Nevada and KDYL/KCPX Radio in Salt Lake City. She was then secretary to the manager of KABC Radio in Los Angeles, and after 25 years as a legal secretary, retired from the law firm of Goldman & Kagan, also in Los Angeles. She was an active member of the Westwood First Ward in Los Angeles.
When Lois retired from 25 years with the law firm, she didn't really retire. Instead, she moved to Salt Lake City and began a second career as a volunteer at the Division of State History/Utah State Historical Society. She spent five days a week at her desk there. In 2006, by then President Bush, her work earned her the prestigious President's Call To Service Lifetime Award, which is given to American citizens who have volunteered 4,000 hours or more over the course of a lifetime. She actually donated some 16,000 hours to Utah State History! She was also active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Grandview First Ward.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, brother Wreal Lott, sisters Juliet Black, Marie Kleinman, and Marjorie Timpson. She is survived by nephews and nieces. 
We will certainly miss Lois' positive demeanor and infectious laugh/giggle.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19th at the Lehi City Cemetery in Lehi, Utah.

Betty Day

Elizabeth Alley Snow Day"Maga"

Salt Lake City, UT-Elizabeth "Betty" passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013. She was born July 18, 1919 in Midvale, Utah to Dr. John Symonds Alley and Edna Myrtle McElravy. She loved to share stories about growing up in Midvale. Her father was the town doctor and her mother his nurse. She had many great adventures with her only brother Jack. She graduated from Jordan High School, and attended the University of Utah where she received a degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She also caught the heart of the handsome football star Paul Homer Snow, whom she married January 3, 1942 in Enid, Oklahoma. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, April 18, 1960. Paul passed away June 30, 1960. Betty married Carl Nelson Day June 16, 1962. He was killed in a car accident November 17, 1974. After retiring from teaching, Mom spent her winters in Arizona. She enjoyed an active lifestyle. She loved social dancing her whole life. She was even dancing at her 93rd birthday party with her oxygen tank and walker in tow. Mom always loved a good party! Mom also loved to help others. She was a member of The Assistance League of Salt Lake City. She served faithfully in the LDS church. She had many friends. We will miss her dearly. She is survived by three children, John P. Snow "Jack" (Pam) Mesa, Arizona, Robert J. Snow (Connie) Salt Lake City, Utah, and Paula Snow Madsen (Neil) Fruit Heights, Utah, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, step-sons Robert Day and David Day, and loving cat, Daisy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Symonds Alley Jr., her husbands Paul H. Snow, and C. Nelson Day, and a grandson Paul Thomas Snow. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Florence Keiser

1914 ~ 2012
Our beloved mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend Florence Irene Pay Keiser, 98, died of natural causes on Monday, December 31, 2012. She was born November 27, 1914 in Nephi, Utah to Edward James and Eda Marion Tranter Pay and was the second of five children. The family moved to Salt Lake where she met and later married Herman L. Keiser in the Salt Lake Temple, June 25, 1938. They had a family of six children and provided a wonderful home full of love and laughter. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She truly was a woman of faith and a great example to her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her siblings: Alice King, Donald (Donna) Pay and Ruth Peterson along with her children: Robert H. (Sara), James D. (Annette), Carolyn Keiser, Janice (Gil) Baker, Shirley Keiser, JoAnn Cook, 37 grandchildren and 111 great-grandchildren (and counting). She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, brother Rex, two brothers-in-law and son-in-law, John Cook. We'd like to thank the Hospice team at CNS for all their loving care and support: Shellie, Dena, Gena, Lisa, Jimmy, John and volunteers: Karen and Gail.
Services will be on Saturday, January 5 at 12 noon at the Alta View Stake Center 1850 East 8600 South. Marjorie Ackroyd Gilson

April 25, 1929 ~ July 16, 2012
I was going to be an author, until I read a picture is worth a thousand words so I became an artist instead. If you knew me you would know that I would write my own obit. I've not room to tell it all, so the worst things I'll omit.
My parents had eight children; I was the youngest of them all. My father was James Walter Ackroyd, my mother Sina Christina Olsen. My siblings now deceased are: Marie, Walter, Max, Edith, Grant, and Ammon. My dear sister Clara is still alive.
I am survived by my husband Dumayne "Gil" Gilson. We were married in the Salt Lake Temple almost 62 years ago, on November 7, 1950. It has been a special union. I taught him to play tennis, golf, and cards, and he quickly learned to beat me at my own games. We have five children: Terry Lynne Decker (Tom), Renee Gilson, Leslie Peterson (Randy), James D. Gilson (Pat), and Darin Dumayne Gilson (Susie). 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
I was a gourmet cook, and we had family dinners every Sunday. We ate well, played games, and laughed a lot. We boated on Lake Powell the week it started to fill up. We spent most of our vacations there, and made great family memories.
I have many very special friends. I've been a lifetime faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I've had a wonderful life, but my work here is done; I look forward to sweet reunions with those on the other side. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.

Peter Wolfgang Koerbler lost his courageous battle of seven years to difficult health conditions on May 7, 2012. He was born to Anton Franz and Stephanie Marie Negrini Koerbler on November 7, 1939, in Vienna, Austria. He lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, for nearly 60 years. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Boulware, on September 1, 1967. Peter fought valiantly to live, never complaining of all he endured. He had a quick wit and loved to tell stories, joke, tease, and make everyone laugh. He was beloved by all who had the honor of knowing him. Peter will be missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Carolyn; children, Michael (Emily), and Jennifer Flynn; grandchildren, Kieran, Joshua, and Zander; and sister, Ruth (Charles) Greenmun. Richard E. "Dick" Hadfield, beloved husband, father, grandpa and friend died peacefully at home on May 8, 2012. He was born on Nov. 17, 1937, the only child of William E. "Ted" Hadfield and Lola Ernstsen Hadfield. Dick was a lifelong resident of Salt Lake City and was employed by Hercules/ATK for 39 years. On July 16, 1966 he married Barbara Turnier.
Dick was a Master Gardener and after retiring pursued his love of gardening by raising thousands of plants, sharing them with family and friends.
Dick is survived by his wife Barbara, son Brian (Danyell), daughter Keri and grandchildren Sheridan and Liam.
At his request there will be no funeral. There will be an informal memorial gathering to celebrate Dick's life on Tuesday, May 15 fron 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sugarhouse Garden Center, 1602 E. 2100 So. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Sugarhouse Park in Richard's name.

Carol Bernice Warner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, passed away May 3rd at age 76.
Carol's life was full of love and devotion to her husband and family and always put her family before her own needs. She married the love of her life, ElVon in 1958. She was a loving mother of her two children, Shauna Shedden, and Sherm (Margarita) Warner; grandmother of three granddaughters, Tiana, Cecilia (Daryl), and Tanisha; and one grandson, Jamie. She graciously followed her husband around the world by accompanying him on two overseas assignments to Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia. She also obtained her B.S. degree from BYU in business education and worked in many different positions including being a word processing supervisor at Lutheran Mutual Life Insurance Company and teaching typing and word processing at University of Northern Iowa. She finished her career working at ElVon's side with S.E. Warner Software. She was truly loved by everyone who knew her.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the LDS Parkway 9th ward chapel located at 10200 S. 3200 W., South Jordan, Utah 84095 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am and will be followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Shirley LeFevre Withers beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away January 22, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born April 27, 1925 in Panguitch, Utah to Daniel James LeFevre and Mariam Ruth Robinson LeFevre. She married the love of her life, Wesley Lee Withers May 29, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple December 29, 1948. Together they raised six children: Fred (Lupe) Withers, Elaine Stratton, Sharon (Bob) Montgomery, Wendy (Bill) Underwood, Mark (Michelle) Withers and Mary Anne (Doug) Balfour. She is survived by her husband, children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, daughter, Baby Shirley Withers, brother and sisters: Jay LeFevre, Marie Stewart Johnston, Orvilla LeFevre Shakespeare and LaRine LeFevre Bradshaw. 
She served as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many capacities in the Primary, Cub Scouting, and Relief Society.
Shirley's favorite thing was spending time with her family, sewing, quilting, camping, fishing, any activity that created lasting memories. She left a legacy of the importance of family.
We will celebrate the life of Shirley on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. and viewing starting at 9:45 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary located at 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah 84092. Interment immediately following services at Larkin Sunset Gardens.

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away of natural causes with family surrounding her. She had a great love for life, family, and her Father in Heaven. We were blessed to have her as our mother.
Helen was born to Olive Iverson & Gustave Adolph Hokanson, step-mother, Elfa, siblings Elaine Bjornn (dec), Dorothy Harvey and step brothers, Von and Milton. She met and married her eternal companion and sweetheart, Einar Willard Swensen (dec), Salt Lake Temple, August 30, 1948. Survived by children, Carol, Marlene, (Roy Zander), Paul, and Barry; 6 grandchildren, (Dean, Nicole, Kristen, Paul, Alice, and David); 2 great- grandchildren (Aleksia and Colett).
