Theme: Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing, and establish a house, even…a house of order. (D&C 109:8)
Application: Clean Up
Just before I took on this assignment, I cleaned my house. I tackled every drawer, every cupboard, every closet. I cleaned under every bed, in the garage, the frige and the freezer, filing cabinets, storage rooms, you name it. I cleaned it! But after a while I started to get discouraged and frankly very bored. I began to complain about this mundane task and could see no end to it.
One day, as I sat in the temple it came to me. The Lord created the world one task, one day at a time. At the end of each day he looked upon his labors and said, “it is good.” He didn’t grumble and say, “will this ever end?” “This is so boring”. I came home renewed. I realized that this is what I was doing. I was organizing and cleaning up my own little world. Since then, I have tried to find pleasure in whatever clean up task I am engaged in. And when I am finished I try to look at it and say “it is good.”
