Shirley was born in Panguitch, Utah. She had one brother and three sisters. She is the last surviving member in her family.
Shirley married her husband Wes in 1943. They have two sons and five daughters. One daughter died at birth.
Her favorite memory is going through the Idaho temple and being sealed to her husband and the two children who were born at that time. Wes' mom and brother were at the temple with them.
Shirley served for 30 years as a Primary teacher and in Cub Scouts but her favorite calling was as the Homemaking Leader in Relief Society because she loves crafts.
Piece of advice: "Don't brag about how well you've been, cause it'll come to hit you." She was very healthy until she turned 75 and since then has been in the hospital "too much."
