Visiting Teaching

Last week my husband made a large magnetic board for me to post the names of all the Visiting Teachers, partners, and those they visit. I have had such fun putting each of you on the board. It has given me pause to think of you individually. I have felt such a rush of gratitude, love and strength. In a glance, I see the big picture and honestly, you look so good-- like an army of faithful, wonderful women who, when united, could conquer anything!
I also had a moment of pause when I removed Grace from the board. It seemed so brutal. She was gone, just like that, off the board, off the rolls, off the lists, just OFF. And then I began to think of it in terms of graduation. Dear Grace has graduated. She had passed all the mortal courses and graduated with honors.
Someday, we will each be removed from the board, from the rolls and lists. Just like that, we will be gone. And hopefully we will all graduate with honor!
In the meantime, we keep working, doing what is required of us, loving one another and tenderly caring for those whose charge we have been given. To be a Visiting Teaching is an honor and a great responsibility. It is a privledge to serve. And through that service we come to love. Remember this month to share the words "I Love You" with those you serve. And don't forget that I love each of you.

  1. Thank you Kathy for such a great comparison. It gives me a new perspective. I love you too! It has been so great to have you in our ward!
